I would highly recommend Lagan Lutherie School to anybody interested in making a plucked stringed instrument, whether you want to follow the plans and/or molds of your favourite guitar or create something unique to your own specifications from scratch.I completed the month-long intensive course under the supervision of Master Luthier Sam Irwin who is extremely knowledgeable and ensures that every student enjoys the process. He has a very impressive professional history and is very approachable and inspiring. I cannot convey how much flexibility and support is offered in terms of design. There is great social aspect to the course with people of all ages working at their own pace. The fact that every student is creating something different gives everyone a chance to learn about the various tonewoods and processes. If a mistake is made, everybody learns from it and more importantly, everyone learns methods or rectifying those mistakes. I couldn't be happier with my instrument and I've made some lifelong friends over the 4 weeks. A wealth of information was learned and my only regret is that I didn't start saving for the course earlier. I also ate too many biscuits.
